Review: Samsung Omnia HD

I got my Omnia HD I8910 last November 2009. I think it’s time to really have a short, good and simple review for this precious fone from Samsung.

How precious Omnia HD is? It offers high-end multimedia features, such as an 8-megapixel camera and HD video recording. It also has WIFI and other features too. Making it really one of the must have mobile phones out there. IMO, it can even beat the IPHONE.. although system wise and brand wise IPHONE has the edge. But, let’s be honest lately Samsung is raising the bars for mobile phones. The picture quality of Omnia HD is really impressive most camera phones have problems with indoor shots but Omnia HD produced high quality and very clear with rich colors nicely. The HD recording is quite impressive too for a camera phone, video quality is really nice. Images/shots was sharp and action scnes where clear and crisp. The Samung i890 Omnia HD is also a smartphone it has theSymbian’s S60 platform, similar to the Nokia N97. Most of us know that Symbian OS is getting fairly outdated, but Samsung does a nice job by adding fresh things in the interface.

The multimedia features of this mobile phone is top-notch. Video playback on the Omnia HD’s AMOLED screen is brilliant and given the generous size of the display, there wasn’t as much eye strain as with some other touch-screen devices. This is really one of the monster mobile phones out there based on features and what it can do.

To those newly and proud owners of this fone. I have few of the tips and tricks for Omnia HD:

List of known codes for the Samsung i8910 HD. Key this into the keypad. *#7380# – Soft reset the phone and restores default phone settings.

*#7370# – Hard reset the phone. Formats phone memory and restores default phone settings

*#62209526# – View MAC address with out removing your battery

*#0000# – View Phone version information

*#0228# – Phone test mode

*#1546792*# – Phone admin mode

*#1234# – Gives firmware info

*2767*3855# – Factory reset

*#1111# – Test mode screen. FTA SW Version. Don’t know what that is. I assume software version of some sort.

*#2222# – Test Mode Screen. FTA HW Version. REV0.3 – I assume hardware version.

*#3333# – Camera settings.

*#06# – The config and advance options menu. Be careful touching anything here!
